Tuition is available for all ages and abilities at GigGear, so whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro our teachers can help. We have a top team of highly experienced teachers for Guitar, Drums, Bass Guitar, Banjo, Piano & Keyboards, Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute – all of whom teach to all levels and styles in our purpose built studios. We also now cater for group lessons in guitar!

Steve Foster - Drum Teacher

Steve is a highly experienced drummer with over 30 years of playing under his belt, 10 years of which has seen him teach hundreds of students from beginners getting their first taste of drumming to experienced players requiring pro tips. Steve himself, has also had lessons from some top players including Ralph Salmins, Steve Smith, Max Abramis and more.  Not content with just teaching, Steve has played live with many bands at famous venues and corporate events and collaborated with top session players across a variety of genres. His live work has seen him support the likes of Jools Holland, ABC, M People, The Drifters to name but a few.

 

Alex Bayly – Guitar / Piano Teacher

Although only young, Alex has managed to gain a vast amount of experience within the music world. He studied at Leeds College of Music where he gained a BA (Mus) 1st and was also awarded the ‘Friendship’ prize for Composition in Jazz and Popular Style. He has now been teaching Guitar and Piano for over 2 years with his students having 100% pass rate and most of them receiving merit passes. Like all of our Teachers, Alex is also a busy live musician playing with his band The Last men and previously has toured and supported with Enter Shikari, Architects, Pulled Apart by Horses, Sugababes and more.

 

Charlie Turner – Piano / Saxophone / Clarinet Teacher

At the tender age of 12 Charlie had already received a Grade A* in GCSE Music setting her up for a career as a Musician. Since then she has passed Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Alto & Tenor Sax exams with distinction and also completed her A Level Music. She has worked with International Jazz Saxophonist Ray Gelato, plays live regularly with her band The DC Effect and is now working on her own original material. Charlie has lots of live experience not only at local venues and festivals but also in London.

 

Zane Maertens – Guitar / Bass / Double Bass / Banjo / Ukulele Teacher

Zane is highly proficient multi instrumentalist with the ability to teach Guitar, Bass / Double Bass and Banjo to Pro standard. He has a 1994 Guild Hall School of Music on Classical Guitar and made a highly successful career out of live work. Zane has toured the world on cruise ships, playing in a 7 piece band and also played in many top Musicals including Blues Brothers, Big Girls Don’t Cry and West Coast Boyz. His live work has also seen him play with top artists such as Jocelyn Brown, Rose Royce, The London Jazz Collective and more.

 

Steve Wallace – Guitar Teacher

Steve has been playing Guitar for over 18 years, picking up a BTEC National Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music in 2002 and passing with Merit for Rockschool Grade 8 in 2007. He plays guitars and drums on the live circuit and has worked in the studio with legendary producer Pete ‘Pee Wee’ Coleman (AC/DC, Tears for Fears, Napalm Death). Steve is an RGT Registered Tutor and has achieved a 100% pass rate with all his students that have taken grades.
