The Team of GigGear Teachers

Alex Bayly - Guitar / Piano Teacher

Alex studied at Leeds College of Music where he gained a BA (Mus) 1st and was also awarded the ‘Friendship’ prize for Composition in Jazz and Popular Style. He has now been teaching Guitar and Piano for over 3 years with his students having 100% pass rate and most of them receiving merit passes. Like all of our Teachers, Alex is also a busy live musician playing with his band The Last men and previously has toured and supported with Enter Shikari, Architects, Pulled Apart by Horses, Sugababes and more.

Stacy Plant - Drum Teacher

Stacy has been playing the drums for almost 20 years and in that time has studied with top UK drummers Steve White, Pete Riley and Darby Todd. He played his first pro gig at the age of 14 and hasn't stopped since, gaining support slots with a range of artists such as The Subways, The Blockheads, Gemma Hayes and many more. His main teaching focus is on playing the drums musically, technique and creativity and whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player looking for some new ideas and direction, Stacy is the teacher for you!

Zane Maertens – Guitar / Bass / Double Bass / Banjo / Ukulele Teacher

Zane is highly proficient multi instrumentalist with the ability to teach Guitar, Bass / Double Bass and Banjo to Pro standard. He has a 1994 Guild Hall School of Music on Classical Guitar and made a highly successful career out of live work. Zane has toured the world on cruise ships, playing in a 7 piece band and also played in many top Musicals including Blues Brothers, Big Girls Don’t Cry and West Coast Boyz. His live work has also seen him play with top artists such as Jocelyn Brown, Rose Royce, The London Jazz Collective and more.

Jamie Jones - Piano / Guitar Teacher

Steve Wallace – Guitar Teacher

Steve has been playing Guitar for over 18 years, picking up a BTEC National Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music in 2002 and passing with Merit for Rockschool Grade 8 in 2007. He plays guitars and drums on the live circuit and has worked in the studio with legendary producer Pete ‘Pee Wee’ Coleman (AC/DC, Tears for Fears, Napalm Death). Steve is an RGT Registered Tutor and has achieved a 100% pass rate with all his students that have taken grades.
