Personalised multi-point setup included

Before dispatch, your instrument will be treated to a full setup. That's not a quick tweak, but a full multi-point setup by an experienced guitar technician who will check and adjust every single thing on your guitar, bass, ukulele or banjo to ensure it is performing at its absolute best.

This is not a quick process but we believe every instrument should go through our process to acheive an exacting standard of playability.

Frets

We start with the frets on your instrument. All guitar necks move and change over time so we will make sure that your frets are nice and flat as we go up the neck. We don't want any high or low spots as this will mean your guitar will need a higher than optimum action and potentially suffer with fret buzz.

We check and properly profile the playing surface of the frets and then make sure the fret ends are finished off properly. The fret is then polished to ensure smooth string bending.

Truss Rod

Then it's on to the truss rod. This metal rod differs from guitar to guitar (some guitars such as classical guitars don't usually have a truss rod!) and basically controls the "relief" or curve of the neck. Not enough relief and your strings won't have enough clearance over the other frets when playing. Too much relief and you'll have a high action which gets worse as you go up the neck.

The heavier the strings then the more the truss rod needs to work. Proper adjustment in the workshop means that the action will be just right for the strings fitted to your guitar.

Top Nut

The top nut is super important and is one of the two open contact points of your guitar. The technician will check and cut each slot to make sure the strings both run freely but are not sitting in a slot that's too big.

The top nut also plays a big part in the action of your guitar so we'll hit that sweet spot between too low and too high.

Saddle(s)

Another really important part of your guitar!

On an acoustic, the saddle is cut to the correct height making sure the bottom is 100% flat and straight. This means the string can transfer its vibration properly into the body of your guitar.

For electric guitars, the saddles are adjusted to ensure your intonation is perfect. We will also match the saddles to the radius of your fretboard.

Bridge / Tremolo

The bridge affects the break angle and string height of your guitar and is also responsible for holding your saddles.

For a guitar with a Floyd Rose tremolo system or similar, the spring tension has to be just right to allow the tremolo to return to its "zero point" and keep everything in tune.

For guitars with standard tremolos, we can set it to float and be used both up or down like a true tremolo or we can lock the trem block back so the tremolo will only go downwards.... the choice is yours!

Intonation

Intonation is the measure of how in-tune the guitar string is across the length of the fretboard and a guitar with badly set intonation will get more and more out of tune as the string is shortened when you play.

Tiny adjustments are made to each string where applicable to adjust its length and ensure that the intonation is set just right.

Overall Action

Once all the above has been completed, the guitar is checked for playability and fine adjustments are made. This step brings everything together and means your guitar will be set up optimally.

Machine Heads

Every machine head is operated and checked for function. We need to ensure that the machine heads operate smoothly.

Electrics

All the functions of your guitar are checked to ensure everything is working as intended.

For acoustic guitars we will check the functions of the EQ system and controls as weel as check the internal cabling and jack socket.

For electric guitars, all the pickups are checked for function and tonal response. All controls and switches are operated to ensure they are functioning properly. The jack socket is checked.

Other Parts

All other parts such as strap pins, bushings, tuning buttons etc are fully checked.

Dispatch

All our instruments get the same premium treatment wether you purchase online or instore.

If you have purchased online, your guitar will be carefully packed ready for dispatch. You will receive a tracking link via email.

Happy playing :)

Description

The TC Electronic Spark Booster pedal can either be used as an always on effect delivering added grit, life and compression or use it as a level boost to kick in when you need a solo to punch through the mix.

The Spark Booster allows upto 26db of boost to drive your amp harder and making your tone sing that bit sweeter and harder, whilst the onboard active eq - bass and treble - and the 3 way mid switch enables a wide range of tonal shaping. Want to add life to your guitar tone....then check the Spark Booster!

Spark Booster - Ignite Your Playing

Spark Booster is a special type of pedal. It's a pedal that will ignite your playing and kickstart your inspiration. And no matter how you decide to use it, it's a guaranteed ear-to-ear grin as soon as the first notes hit you. What starts as a "just-wanna-try-this-pedal-out"-session turns out to be a 3 hour marathon of new riffs, licks and ideas, without you even noticing any time has passed - because you were too busy having fun and sounding great. That type of pedal.

Realizing your potential
Spark Booster works wonders as an always on-type of effect - adding life, grit and compression to your sound in a way that just oozes tone and musicality. Add body, punch and warmth to pickups, drive amps to peak performance and enhance the sonic possibilities of existing sounds. Spark Booster also shines when used as a pure level boost. It's the perfect tool to prime solos, highlight parts and add another musical dimension to your amp or Overdrive/Distortion pedal - to really drive that killer solo, lick or riff home.

Spark Booster's feature set is all about you - maximizing what you already have and realizing your potential. The level knob allows you to add 26 dB of boost - it raises your volume without altering the character of your tone in any way. Spark Booster's Gain knob is perfect for adding a hint of breakup or slight compression to a clean amp.

The active EQ controls consist of Bass and Treble knobs - which allow you to cut and boost these frequencies. They form the perfect tone shaping tool and because they are active EQs, Spark Booster can amplify frequency areas as well, and be used to create deep, extended lows or to add beautiful top-end sparkle. Also, Spark Booster is True-bypass, guaranteeing optimal tonal integrity.

Rounding out the feature set of Spark Booster is a little toggle switch that allows for three settings. The ‘Clean' setting means the pedal boosts your signal equally across the frequency spectrum. The ‘Fat' setting fattens up sounds and adds life and punch to your sound, and allows for precise tonal shaping with the EQ and Gain knobs. The Mid-boost section provides a bump in the mids that is both musical and pronounced. It cuts through any mix with heaps of unprecedented clarity and allows you to be heard like never before.

Drive, driven full circle
Spark Booster is the fourth entry for Overdrive/Distortion pedals in our compact pedal series, and rounds up our lineup on these type of pedal platform. Based on the runaway success of the other TC Electronic pedals, the Spark Booster had to be the grand finale to our take on drive, distortion and boost. Simply put, we wanted to make this one truly special and in order to do so, we took inspiration from our own history.

Rooted in tradition - aimed at rebellion
Whether you are a starting guitarist or a seasoned pro, chances are you've heard of us at some point. For many this will be about our reputation in Reverbs, Delay and Modulation effects, but for guitarists who know and love their boost- and distortion greats, it will be about one of our first pedals: the TC Electronic Booster + Line Driver & Distortion. A true classic in its own right and the perfect starting point for Spark Booster. To this day, the Booster + Line Driver & Distortion is used by high-profile pros as diverse as Scott Ian (Anthrax) and Allan Holdsworth, and it is a highly sought after pedal on the used market. We took all that made the Booster + Line Driver & Distortion so immensely popular and brought it into the 21st century. And so, Spark Booster is not a 1:1 port, nor is it a reissue or a tribute. Rather than that, Spark Booster represents a modern take on all that made the TC Electronic Booster + Line Driver & Distortion such a fantastic pedal - and the ultimate declaration of our love for amazing boost and distortion sounds, aimed squarely at guitarists that want to spark their creativity.
