The Gibson Explorer is one of Gibson's iconic alternative designs. This latest incarnation features all mahogany construction and a set of Burstbucker pickups.
The Gibson Explorer is one of Gibson's classic alternative designs. Though originally launched in 1958, it wasn't until the mid-70s that the Explorer became a success, thanks in part to its adoption by hard rock and heavy metal.
Gibson has paired an all solid mahogany body, carved into that iconic Explorer angular design, and with a matching Slimtaper profiled mahogany neck. The neck is topped with a 12" radius rosewood fingerboard set with 22 medium jumbo frets and dot inlays.
Powering the guitar is a set of Burstbucker humbucker pickups, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck position, and a Burstbucker 3 at the bridge. The pickups are wired via the classic 2 volume, 1 tone, and a toggle switch design.
Other appointments include a Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece, Grover mini rotomatic tuners, a 3-ply pickguard and black speed knobs.
The guitar comes complete with a Gibson hard case.
