Guild
Since their emergence in 1953 from Pearl Street in New York City, The Guild Guitar Company initially focused on full-depth hollow body electric guitars aimed at Jazz musicians, before soon introducing a selection of beautifully crafted flattops and acoustic archtops.
During the 1960's Guild then released a famous trio of well received electric guitars including the Starfire models, the Thunderbird, S-100 Polara and their first 12-string and bass guitars. These fine models were adopted by greats such as Johnny Smith, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Bonnie Raitt and Richie Havens.
The D-40, D-50 Dreadnought acoustics cemented their place as permanent residents in their line up after a host of famous users, pioneering build quality and professional sound. During the 70's period Guild also designed and produced the worlds first dreadnought guitar with a cutaway body and the first dreadnought-shaped 12-string guitars, designs that have been replicated constantly to the present day.
Guild instruments are made to be played.
