Personalised multi-point setup included

Before dispatch, your instrument will be treated to a full setup. That's not a quick tweak, but a full multi-point setup by an experienced guitar technician who will check and adjust every single thing on your guitar, bass, ukulele or banjo to ensure it is performing at its absolute best.

This is not a quick process but we believe every instrument should go through our process to acheive an exacting standard of playability.

Frets

We start with the frets on your instrument. All guitar necks move and change over time so we will make sure that your frets are nice and flat as we go up the neck. We don't want any high or low spots as this will mean your guitar will need a higher than optimum action and potentially suffer with fret buzz.

We check and properly profile the playing surface of the frets and then make sure the fret ends are finished off properly. The fret is then polished to ensure smooth string bending.

Truss Rod

Then it's on to the truss rod. This metal rod differs from guitar to guitar (some guitars such as classical guitars don't usually have a truss rod!) and basically controls the "relief" or curve of the neck. Not enough relief and your strings won't have enough clearance over the other frets when playing. Too much relief and you'll have a high action which gets worse as you go up the neck.

The heavier the strings then the more the truss rod needs to work. Proper adjustment in the workshop means that the action will be just right for the strings fitted to your guitar.

Top Nut

The top nut is super important and is one of the two open contact points of your guitar. The technician will check and cut each slot to make sure the strings both run freely but are not sitting in a slot that's too big.

The top nut also plays a big part in the action of your guitar so we'll hit that sweet spot between too low and too high.

Saddle(s)

Another really important part of your guitar!

On an acoustic, the saddle is cut to the correct height making sure the bottom is 100% flat and straight. This means the string can transfer its vibration properly into the body of your guitar.

For electric guitars, the saddles are adjusted to ensure your intonation is perfect. We will also match the saddles to the radius of your fretboard.

Bridge / Tremolo

The bridge affects the break angle and string height of your guitar and is also responsible for holding your saddles.

For a guitar with a Floyd Rose tremolo system or similar, the spring tension has to be just right to allow the tremolo to return to its "zero point" and keep everything in tune.

For guitars with standard tremolos, we can set it to float and be used both up or down like a true tremolo or we can lock the trem block back so the tremolo will only go downwards.... the choice is yours!

Intonation

Intonation is the measure of how in-tune the guitar string is across the length of the fretboard and a guitar with badly set intonation will get more and more out of tune as the string is shortened when you play.

Tiny adjustments are made to each string where applicable to adjust its length and ensure that the intonation is set just right.

Overall Action

Once all the above has been completed, the guitar is checked for playability and fine adjustments are made. This step brings everything together and means your guitar will be set up optimally.

Machine Heads

Every machine head is operated and checked for function. We need to ensure that the machine heads operate smoothly.

Electrics

All the functions of your guitar are checked to ensure everything is working as intended.

For acoustic guitars we will check the functions of the EQ system and controls as well as check the internal cabling and jack socket.

For electric guitars, all the pickups are checked for function and tonal response. All controls and switches are operated to ensure they are functioning properly. The jack socket is checked.

Other Parts

All other parts such as strap pins, bushings, tuning buttons etc are fully checked.

Dispatch

All our instruments get the same premium treatment whether you purchase online or instore.

If you have purchased online, your guitar will be carefully packed ready for dispatch. You will receive a tracking link via email.

Happy playing :)

Description

The Brunswick BT200 Travel Acoustic Guitar delivers impressive room-filling acoustic tone in a compact, highly portable package. Engineered for songsmiths on the move, campers, and players with smaller hands, this travel-sized acoustic delivers full-sounding mid-range punch without taking up precious boot space or weighing you down on the road.

By pairing a scaled-down body profile with an all-sapele construction, the BT200 ensures you never have to sacrifice genuine acoustic resonance when travelling to gigs, festivals, or jam sessions away from home.

Compact, Travel-Ready Acoustic Design

Building an acoustic guitar for life on the road requires a careful balance between physical proportions and acoustic volume. The BT200 features a scaled-down body design with a 40.9 cm body length and a 31.8 cm lower bout, making it noticeably easier to pack and carry than a traditional dreadnought or auditorium model.

Despite its reduced footprint, the body depth of up to 9.3 cm provides enough internal air capacity to generate surprising acoustic projection and low-end warmth. A protective satin finish coats the entire body, guarding the tonewood against minor surface friction while allowing the soundboard to vibrate freely.

All-Sapele Tonewood Construction

To ensure a full, direct voice from a compact body, the BT200 utilises sapele mahogany across its soundboard, back, and sides. Sapele is renowned in acoustic luthiery for its strong mid-range presence, punchy attack, and warm tonal resonance that helps smaller instruments punch above their weight class.

The solid sonic foundation provided by the sapele top gives chords a clear, focused character and gives fingerpicked passages distinct note definition. This balanced frequency response ensures the instrument sits comfortably alongside vocals during unamplified campfire jams or casual songwriting sessions.

Short-Scale Playability and Comfort

Frets and string tension feel noticeably lighter on the BT200 thanks to its shortened 22.7" (57.8 cm) scale length. The reduced string tension makes fretting chords far more forgiving on the fingertips, making this model an ideal choice for developing players, younger guitarists, or seasoned musicians seeking an effortless playing action.

A slim 41 mm nut width keeps neck transitions comfortable, while a modern 16" (40.6 cm) fingerboard radius provides a flat, consistent surface for clean chording and lead work across the frets.

Dependable Hardware and Included Gig Bag

To keep your instrument protected during travel, every BT200 comes complete with a fitted gig bag. The gig bag makes transporting your guitar across shoulders or packing it alongside luggage straightforward and worry-free.

On the headstock, enclosed die-cast machine heads protect the internal tuning gears from dirt, dust, and knock damage encountered during transit. Their smooth gear ratio holds pitch securely, so you spend less time tuning and more time playing whenever inspiration strikes.

For the price , this is a brilliant little guitar. I just upgraded the half size guitar my 6 year old son was learning on . I took the advice of Russell with the purchase and i appreciate all the help that was given. Even with silk and steel strings on it sounds right. Thanks again to all at Giggear

Response from RD

Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

My dad brought me this guitar which really lighted me up. It sounds nice and it is really comfortable to play.I am nine years old.

Safia D

My daughter is delighted and is just starting out.

Adrian Willett

Really high quality and sounds good. Good size even for adults. I wish I got the one that comes with the tuner since it costs nothing extra, but good nonetheless

Josella Gajitos

Bought this as an ‘easy to grab’ lightweight after heart surgery meant I couldn’t play a full size guitar. In a word, ‘brilliant!’ Straight out of the box the action was OK. Every time I pick it up the volume and tone impress me. I shan’t rush to swap it out as my living room guitar. And all for £120 😃

Questions

Hello, my son is nearly 6 and really wants a guitar for his birthday. Would you recommend this one for a beginner? I'm keen to get him something that isn't too difficult to play (steel strings), that is not too big and that sounds good. Some advice would be great please. Thanks

Nicola Terry

This guitar is a fantastic guitar for younger players and adults alike. You can make the playability of this guitar even better by fitting silk and steel guitar strings which are really soft to the touch but still sound like a steel string. We can fit them for you too!

Im looking to learn to play the guitar With my 8 year old son. Would a 3/4 guitar be a reasonable size for us both? We are both left handed. Please can you recommend a suitable guitar. Thank you

Tom

This Brunswick 3/4 Acoustic will be absolutely fine for both of you. We sell lots of this model to adults who want a smaller guitar to play around the house or travel with and also to younger players who need something smaller, steel strung and of good quality. We highly recomend this guitar!

Can a strap be used with this guitar

Jo

Yes - this guitar has strap buttons fitted.
