The TAMA HT250 1st Chair Drum Throne is designed specifically for players who prefer the ergonomic feel of a saddle seat.
Unlike standard round stools, this saddle-style top is crafted using a strongly moulded foam cushion. This is a particularly smart choice because the foam is firm enough to hold its shape over years of use, ensuring you do not end up sinking into the base or losing support during long sessions.
The engineering behind the height adjustment is just as impressive as the seat itself. Tama has combined the best parts of two different systems to create the 1st Chair adjustment.
You get the rapid movement of a T-bolt system for those moments when you need to make a quick change, but you also have the absolute precision of a threaded rod. Setting your height is straightforward: you simply loosen the main bolt and lift the rod to roughly the right spot. To lock it in place and fine-tune the position, you screw the height lock down to the nylon bushing. If you find you are a fraction too high or low, a quick turn of the seat or the lock itself handles the minor adjustments perfectly.
At just over four kilograms, this throne feels substantial and well-planted, giving you a sense of security even when you are playing at high energy. The stability provided by the double-braced base means you can focus entirely on your performance rather than worrying about the stool wobbling. It is an excellent investment for any drummer looking for a blend of unparalleled durability, comfort, and the kind of maximum playability that only a high-quality saddle seat can provide.
