DW
Drum Workshop AKA DW Drums started out as a drum school in Santa Monica, California but after developing the first height adjustable trap case seat in 74' and later buying tooling from the Camco Drum Co to reintroduce the 5000 kick pedal in 77' they began to establish themselves as the premium drummers choice in the USA before relocating their first production facility to LA.
During the 1980's DW innovated the first chain drive 5000 kick pedal, the remote cable hi-hat as well as the very first double pedal design, ideas that have changed drumming forever. During this period they also began to experiment with crafting their very own drums.
Over the course of the 1990's DW Drum Workshop moved production to Oxnard California where they pioneered the delta ball bearing hinge, edge snare drum, true pitch as well as patenting the unique dog bone clamp system. This was also a period in which their famous 9000 series hardware was introduced and they began to craft their own proprietary Maple shells.
The early 2000's saw DW Drums introduce their Pacific Drums and Percussion brand (PDP) in order to reach more drummers, all while constantly adding more lines to their rapidly expanding range such as the Classic Series Drums, DW Jazz Series and their revolutionary X Shell technology shells.
Now DW manufacture their very own production drum sets, their DW family features huge names such as Dave Grohl and Roger Taylor and are now celebrating 40 years as the drummers choice.
