This Gretsch G5420T Electromatic (2016) is a single cutaway hollow body guitar that comes loaded with a pair of Black Top Filter'Tron pickups, a Bigbsy vibrato tailpiece and a host of new upgrades.
The G5420T is a stand out guitar featuring the iconic Gretsch single cutaway 5 ply maple body complete with single bound oversized f holes. A cosmetic upgrade is included in the form of the 4-ply aged binding that is wrapped around the body of the instrument, offering that aged vintage charm that eminates from the classic Gretsch models down the years.
The 24.6" maple neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that features new Pearloid Neo-classic 'Thumbnail' markers. Other upgrades for this model include the new late 50s 6120 style bound headstock and Graphtech NuBone nut.
The beating heart of this instrument originates from its pair of Gretsch Blacktop Filter'Tron humbucking pickups. With this model the guys down at the Gretsch factory had a goal to recreate the tonal character and response of the old Baldwin era pickups that played a big role in rock n roll history. With the DNA of this iconic pickup making up the modern upgraded black top Filter'Tron's installed on this guitar, you can achieve those classic twangy punchy tones with ease. With this new voice Gretsch also felt an electronics upgrade would improve this great instrument even further, adding a treble bleed feature to go along with the standard 2 volume, 1 tone and master volume controls.
Other appointments include the Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece, silver painted plex pickguard with Gretsch Electromatic logo and open back vintage style tuners.
