The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme
Did you know that you could save 20% VAT of purchases of musical instruments for use in education?
All UK schools and academies are eligible (must be VAT registered) and the scheme allows students in full-time education and receiving music tuition to save VAT on qualifying purchases through GigGear.
What are the rules?
- Your school will place an order for the instrument with us and we deliver to the school. The school then supplies the instrument onto the pupil or their guardian
- The pupil must be receiving state education
- The instrument must be used as part of their musical tuition and the the instrument must be appropriate to the pupil’s needs
- The price charged to the pupil for the purchase of the instrument must be at or below cost
How much can I save?
To calculate your potential saving, divide the cost of the instrument inclusive of VAT by 1.2. For example:
Electric guitar @ £449.00 / 1.2 = £374.17. A saving of £74.83!
How does AIPS work?
- Select a suitable instrument for purchase
- Request your School Music Department place an official order on your behalf at education@giggear.co.uk or contact the education team on 01279 432900
- Pay the EX VAT amount to the school for your selected instrument
- Your instrument will be delivered free of charge to your school for you to collect
