The Gibson ES-339 semi-hollow guitar features a design very similar to the classic ES-335 shape albeit in a smaller, lighter and more comfortable size.
The ES339 is constructed using Gibson's tried-and-tested laminated Maple/Poplar/Maple body with spruce bracing, in addition, the ES-335 features a solid maple centre block running the length of the body. This allows the guitar to be played at higher volumes, cutting down feedback and delivering powerful, sustain-rich tone. The hollow wings add warmth to this tone delivering an extensive range of possible sounds.
The neck is built from mahogany, shaped into a comfortable hand-rolled rounded "C" profile and is topped off with a bound 12" radius rosewood fretboard containing 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays.
The tone of the ES-339 is very similar to its legendary ES brother due to it's pair of humbuckers and semi hollow construction. Gibson have fitted this 339 with 57 Classic in the neck position and 57 Classic + wired through the traditional 3-way pickup selector, and volume and tone controls for each pickup.
Hardware is all nickel, with the ABR-1 bridge and aluminium stopbar tailpiece coupled with Grover Rotomatocs tuner (with Kidney buttons) help keep tuning stability rock solid.
