Description

The MXR M294 Sugar Drive Mini Pedal is an exciting development from Jim Dunlop USA that offers the magic of a certain rare transparent overdrive pedal from the 1990s in a convenient pedalboard friendly package. Tone connoisseurs on the quest for this mythical circuit need look no further thanks to the Sugar Drive - a modern classic in the making!

Investigating the famous 'Gooped' circuit boards to find their secrets then throwing in that MXR touch, this MXR M294 Sugar Drive Mini is designed to nail everything from those clear and transparent overdrive tones to raucous cooking tube distortion. Operation is simple too with a three knob set up made up of volume, drive and tone controls.

The Drive control takes your clean signal and blends it with the effected circuit gradually as you turn it up. This effectively replicates the natural way an amplifier would smoothly transition from clean to dirty. Working in harmony and another key part of the Sugar Drive's circuit is what MXR call a 'Charge Pump' which is in place to increase the overall headroom which provides that nice open tone.

The Sugar Drive has been designed to appeal various types of players with all kinds of setups and pedalboards. Firstly the MXR's mini housing means it takes up a very small amount of pedalboard real estate and it also includes a built in switch that allows users to choose between true bypass or engage a buffer (Like the original!).

  • Rare and elusive circuit design
  • Mini housing
  • Charge pump design for added headroom
  • True bypass or buffered operation (engaged via switch)
  • Volume, drive and tone controls
  • Capable of transparent cleans to heavy distortion
