TC Electronic BG250 v2

TC Electronic have just released a software update for the hugely successful BG250 combo - adding their exclusive SpectraComp compressor and BassDrive overdrive to its arsenal of effects.

A software update for the hugely successful TC Electronic BG250 combo has just been released, adding TC's exclusive SpectraComp compressor and BassDrive overdrive to its arsenal of effects (via way of the 'beamable' Toneprints).

The BG250, as standard, ships with Chorus, Flanger, Vibrato and Octaver effects that can be 'beamed' to the amp via way of the Toneprint app, now with the 2 new added effects this already versatile amp gets even better!

SpectraComp
SpectraComp is a three-band compressor that basically applies compression to each individual string as it handles bass, mid and treble frequencies individually. Traditional one-band compressors tend to be controlled only by the lower strings, but with SpectraComp compression now becomes much more musical. It can add subtle and transparent compression, but also be brutal and give a thunderous punch by applying heavy compression. Whatever type of bass compression is needed, SpectraComp delivers exactly that. SpectraComp has been ported directly from TC’s high-end amps: Blacksmith and RH750 and is an integrated part of the overall Bass Amp 2.0 concept that TC introduced in 2009.

BassDrive
BassDrive is, as the name implies, an overdrive tailored specifically for bass. BG250 already features TubeDrive that adds warn, tube-like character that emulates not only the tubes of an analog preamp, but also a tube power amp section. The new BassDrive takes it a step further as it can be seriously cranked to become a growling and snarling overdrive monster – perfect for hardcore musical styles.
